Lionel Ritchie in Concert and Cycle to Irvine 3rd/4th April 2007

Off to another gig tonight. This time it was Lionel Ritchie playing at the SECC in Glasgow.

I'm not his biggest fan, but I love all sorts of music and I was happy to be going to see an artist, who let's face it, is a living legend.

The show was polished and at times a wee bit cheesy, but he was superb and had the crowd eating out of his hand. He played all of his hits, old and new, including The Commodore's songs.

Highlight for me was "Easy". Great song.

Susan was staying at my place after the gig and with unseasonably warm weather for April forecast for the next day, she had brought her bike with her so that we could go for a good long cycle.

We set off nice and early and headed down the cycle path, stopping off at Lochwinnoch.

The weather was beautiful and with it being mid-week, the country roads were pretty quiet. We cycled along down to Irvine with my baldy head getting burned by the overhead sun, as usually happens when I forget to wear my bandana.

A few hours later we arrived and headed to the award winning "Ship Inn" for a late lunch. As you can see from Desperate Dan below, the portions are pretty good and the food was lovely.

After lunch, we cycled to the beach and lay in the sand dunes, looking over to the beautiful island of Arran. Managed to convince Susan that we should do a wee cycle/pub crawl trip there, later in the year.

All too soon, it was time to head for the station and take the easy option of the train home.

Another cool day out!
